Premier Joseph E Farrell and Financial Secretary Lindorna Lambert-Sweeney were in Canada this week for a meeting of the board of governors of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).
Farrell attended as alternate governor of the five British overseas territories in the Caribbean. Premier of the British Virgin Islands, Natalio Wheatley, is the current governor.
The four-day event took place in Ottawa from 17 June, under the theme ‘Partnerships for Resilient Prosperity’.
It began with addresses from CDB acting president Isaac Solomon and Ahmed Hussen, chairman of the CDB board of governors and Canada’s international development minister.
Seminars throughout the week covered topics including employment equity, ‘imagineering’, and accelerating development.
The 54th annual event brought together the bank’s highest decision-making body, thought-leaders, innovators, academics, business leaders, policymakers, and government officials.
It allowed them to engage in discussions on issues pivotal to sustainable development efforts in the Caribbean region.
The public events were streamed live on CDB’s YouTube channel.
