‘A lyrical mastermind’: Montserrat mourns loss of Rhadyo

Montserrat lost another cultural and calypso icon this week with the passing of James Wallace ‘Rhadyo’ Fenton.

Montserrat Arts Council, the Office of the Premier, and the entire cultural and calypso fraternity offered deepest condolences to his family, in a Facebook post on Friday, 16 August.

“Rhadyo was a brother with a unique style and a lyrical mastermind,” the post written by Kenneth ‘Rabo’ Silcott, director of the Montserrat Arts Council, said.

“His music was different and exceptional in every aspect, delivering recordings that transcend beyond his years on this earth.”

Speaking directly to Fenton, he said: “Rhadyo – you have left a tremendous legacy and catalog of musical memories that delve into the life of MAN.

“Moments with The Swordman, The Son of Man, The Preacher Man, The Inspired Man and the Camera Man have captured the effects of a hu-man.

“Thank you for the memories and may your soul rest in peace and rise in glory. Rest, my brother, rest. Only God knows best.”
