Claricia Chambers, the reigning Miss Teen Montserrat 2023, is set to compete for the crown at the Haynes Smith Miss Caribbean Talented Teen pageant this December.
The regional event will take place in Tortola in the British Virgin Islands this year, marking the first time that it has been held outside of St Kitts in its over four decade history.
Chambers will go head-to-head with 11 other young women from across the Caribbean on Sunday, 29 December.
“After a decade-long hiatus, Montserrat returns to the pageant with renewed enthusiasm and spirit,” a Facebook post from the pageant organisers said on 20 October.
“Montserrat has a rich history in the competition, having won the crown once in the 1980s. Now, with Claricia’s talent, grace, and cultural pride, we are ready to make a grand comeback.”
At 18, Chambers proudly embraces her Montserratian and Hispanic heritage, the post said.
Her educational journey, from St John’s Daycare through Brades Nursery and Primary Schools to Montserrat Secondary School, was driven by a passion for positively impacting children’s lives.
Currently, she works at Sweet Angels Valley Daycare and Preschool. This role fits her dream of becoming an early childhood educator, social worker or therapist.
Chambers’ love for babysitting, swimming, photography, and singing also shows her bright, lively personality, the post continued.
She is the treasurer of the Interact Club of Montserrat and is dedicated to community service, living by the motto ‘Service above self’.
Inspired by her favourite scriptures, “God is within her; she will not fail” (Psalm 46:5) and “She opens her heart to the poor” (Proverbs 31:20), Chambers aims to empower young girls and build their confidence.
“As a rising star, she shines brightly, uplifting those around her and encouraging everyone to embrace their truest selves,” the post added.
