Montserrat residents are advised to avoid the bushfire in Silver Hills which has been burning for two days.
The Montserrat Fire and Rescue Service responded promptly after the fire was reported on 27 October.
Commissioner of Police Mark Payne told Montserrat Focus that fire officers have been monitoring the fire’s path closely and are actively working to control its spread where it threatens infrastructure.
The fire remained active as of 28 October.
According to a Facebook post from the Royal Montserrat Police Service, there is no immediate threat to life, however pedestrians and motorists should avoid the area for their own safety.
“Public Safety is our top priority,” the post said, adding: “We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Stay tuned for further updates.”
UPDATE: The fire was extinguished on 1 November.
