A woman is recovering after she was stabbed in Montserrat on the evening of 28 October, the Royal Montserrat Police Service has said.
A police statement on Facebook on 1 November stated that “good progress” has been made and that officers have arrested a person who is assisting with inquiries.
It did not provide any further details on the incident.
In the statement, Commissioner of Police Mark Payne said: “I am pleased that we have been able to take early positive action regarding the stabbing, and that the victim is recovering following the incident.”
During the course of the investigation, the police service received an allegation that an officer may have approached the victim in an attempt to influence her evidence.
The allegation is under investigation and police will now follow due process, the statement said.
Commissioner Payne said: “I am very concerned by the allegation made against the officer and I have instigated an investigation which will seek to obtain the facts and then take appropriate action.
“It is vital that the people of Montserrat have confidence in their police service and feel confident that when allegations of misconduct are raised, they are taken seriously.”
Montserrat Focus has reached out to the police service for further information on the stabbing incident.
