Deputy commissioner of Montserrat’s Financial Services Commission (FSC), Donilia Cuffy, is participating in a training course on international financial standards in South Korea.
The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Standards Training Course is taking place from 13-17 January in Busan and welcomes financial services, legal, and law enforcement professionals.
The attendees are from across the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF), Eastern and Southern Africa Anti-Money Laundering Group (ESAAMLG), and FATF member nations.
The course aims to deepen participants’ understanding of the FATF standards on combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
Delivered by FATF experts at the FATF Training Institute, the training includes e-learning, presentations, group discussions, and small group activities.
Participants are also gaining insights into FATF’s Fifth Round Mutual Evaluation Methodology, an essential tool for assessing compliance with global financial crime standards.
“This training is timely and relevant in strengthening the technical capacity of the Financial Services Commission,” an FSC statement on 15 January said.
It added that it will ensure that the FSC continues to enhance its understanding and obligations in combating money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing.
The FSC encourages the public to learn more about its work by visiting its website, www.fscmontserrat.org, or following its social media channels.
