Paraglider cautioned after flying without clearance in Lookout

Police issued guidance to a paraglider on Sunday, 8 February, after they were observed flying without prior clearance in the Lookout area of Montserrat.

The Royal Montserrat Police Service responded to a report of the incident shortly after 2pm, according to a Facebook statement posted later the same day.

“The individual was spoken to and advised of the legal requirement to notify the relevant authorities prior to engaging in any paragliding activities within Montserrat’s airspace,” it read.

“We would like to remind the public that for safety, security and airspace management purposes, it is mandatory to inform the appropriate authorities before conducting any aerial activities.”

The statement added that this ensures the safety of both the participant and the wider community.

“We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and secure environment,” it finished.
