The Royal Montserrat Police Service has launched a new Facebook group aimed at boosting engagement among the island’s community.
The aim is to provide a space for residents to keep up to date with any important announcements, safety updates and crime prevention tips.
The ‘Official Community Engagement Group’ also allows the public to share their concerns and interact directly with law enforcement.
The group page explains: “This group is dedicated to strengthening the relationship between the Royal Montserrat Police Service and the community we serve.
“Our goal is to foster open communication, trust, and collaboration to enhance public safety and community well-being.”
It details a list of services including sharing important updates and safety tips, engaging in meaningful discussions on community concerns and encouraging positive interactions between the police and public.
It also says it will provide a platform for community members to ask questions and share feedback, and be a place for police to promote events, programmes and initiatives.
The group’s guidelines say members must be respectful and constructive in discussions, and posts related to crime or safety concerns should be factual and reported responsibly.
There must be no hate speech, discrimination or false information, and no political or unrelated promotional content.
