The Governor’s Office has donated a generator to the Montserrat Cultural Centre to support its operations and ensure continued use during power outages.
Staff handed over the vital equipment on Friday, 14 March, according to a Facebook statement from the office.
In the post, Governor Sarah Tucker said she was delighted to support such an essential part of Montserrat’s community.
“The cultural centre is not just a hub for the arts and entertainment, but it also serves as a vital space for democracy, housing our parliament,” she said.
Gifted to the people of Montserrat by Sir George Martin in 2006, the cultural centre in Little Bay has long been a staple for various events.
With this new addition, performances, ceremonies, gatherings and many more events can continue uninterrupted during blackouts, the post said.
