Bertram Cecil Lindsey of Davy Hill has been granted EC$100,000 bail with one surety ahead of his sentencing for rape and attempted rape next month.
A nine-person jury found the 63-year-old guilty of the offences on 31 January following a ten day trial in Montserrat High Court.
Public prosecutions director Oris Sullivan and defence attorney Kenroy Hyman presented evidence before Justice Brian Cottle and the jurors from 20 January.
The offences took place in Davy Hill on 21 and 22 April, 2023. The complainant’s identity is protected by law.
Lindsey was arrested and charged for two counts of rape on 18 May, 2023. He was later granted bail ahead of the trial.
Following the conviction he was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison in Brades until his bail hearing on 3 February.
He will now remain on bail under several conditions until his sentencing which has been scheduled for 10 March.
