Burglars have targeted a primary school and two nursery schools in nighttime raids in Montserrat this week.
The Royal Montserrat Police Service said in a statement on 31 January that it is investigating the incidents and urges anyone with information to come forward.
The first incident took place either in the evening of Tuesday, 28 January, or the early morning on Wednesday, 29 January, at Brades Primary School.
Police responded the the scene and found that the offender had entered three classrooms and stolen electronic equipment including a Dell 3459 laptop and a Lenrue wireless speaker.
That same night, an attempt had also been made to break into Brades Nursery School, but the offender had been unable to gain entry, police said.
On Friday, 31 January, another break-in was reported at Salem Nursery School, although this time nothing was found to have been stolen.
Police said the locations have been processed by scenes of crime officers and an investigation team is progressing urgent inquiries.
Commissioner of Police Mark Payne described the break-ins as “very concerning incidents”.
“Burglary is rare on Montserrat, and the targeting of schools, stealing property used to educate our youngsters is totally unacceptable,” he said.
“I would urge the communities of Montserrat to come forward with any information that may assist us, no matter how insignificant it might seem.
“In particular if anybody has been offered a Dell laptop or Lenrue speakers for sale.”
Police are increasing patrols around all educational establishments in Montserrat.
