Concacaf Nations League: Montserrat secures 1-0 win against Bonaire

Montserrat earned a 1-0 win over Bonaire in the team’s third Concacaf Nations League match, securing a valuable three points.

The group stage game, held at the Arnos Vale Stadium in St Vincent on Thursday, 10 October, marked the team’s first win in the regional competition.

It was a slow start with both teams failing to score in the first half, but just minutes into the second half Montserrat earned a penalty and Lyle Taylor successfully converted it.

The win bumps Montserrat up to third in the group with three points, ahead of Bonaire with just one point.

Leading the pack are El Salvador with nine points after winning all three of its games to date, and St Vincent in second place with four points.

Montserrat lost 4-1 to El Salvador on 5 September and 2-0 to St Vincent on 8 September earlier in the Concacaf Nations League campaign.

Concacaf, the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, is one of FIFA’s six continental confederations, servicing 41 member associations.
