Concacaf Nations League: St Vincent defeats Montserrat 2-1

Montserrat suffered a 2-1 loss to St Vincent and the Grenadines during the team’s latest match in the Concacaf Nations League.

The group stage game, held at the Estadio Cuscatlán football stadium in San Salvador, El Salvador, on Thursday, 14 November, marked the players’ fourth defeat in the regional competition.

Steven Pierre scored the first goal for St Vincent in the 42nd minute after a slow start from both teams, and Cornelius Stewart bagged a second in the 86th minute.

As the game came to a close, Montserrat’s Donervorn Daniels managed to get one in the net in the 88th minute, but it was not enough to even the score.

Montserrat remains at the bottom of the group with just three points from one win and four losses, while El Salvador claims the top spot with a total of 12 points.

Earlier in the Concacaf Nations League campaign, Montserrat lost 4-1 to El Salvador on 5 September and 2-0 to St Vincent on 8 September.

The team then beat Bonaire 1-0 on 10 October before losing 1-0 on 13 October.

Concacaf, the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, is one of FIFA’s six continental confederations, servicing 41 member associations.
