Montserrat Tourism Authority has announced the date of this year’s diaspora symposium which will take place during Montserrat Calabash Festival.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, 24 July, from 2pm to 4.30pm at the Montserrat Cultural Centre in Little Bay.
It aims to enhance communication, leverage diaspora skills for economic growth, promote investment, and acknowledge the valuable contributions of Montserratians abroad.
In a press release on 12 July, Premier Joseph E Farrell said the symposium serves as an exceptional platform to strengthen Montserrat’s ties with its diaspora.
He added: “It also highlights our commitment to harnessing the talents and resources of Montserratians worldwide for the sustainable development and prosperity of our island.”
The event will showcase Montserrat as a leading destination for investment, tourism, and cultural exchange.
Discussion will focus on sectors such as banking, real estate and health, as well as national development initiatives.
Rosetta West-Gerald of the Montserrat Tourism Authority said she is delighted for a panel to convene to discuss topics that resonate deeply with the diaspora.
She added that combining the symposium with the festival underscores Montserrat’s commitment to engaging with its global community and fostering stronger connections.
The event will be broadcast live on the Government Information Unit’s YouTube channel, ZJB Radio, and Montserrat Tourism Authority’s Facebook page.
