De Voice, Lyrikal Tool and D’Vicious win Soca Monarch crowns

Some of Montserrat’s best musical talent was showcased during the 2024 Soca Monarch competition, with local artists bringing the island’s cultural vibrancy to the stage.

Hundreds of attendees gathered at Carnival City in Little Bay on 26 December to enjoy the high-energy event and watch contestants battle it out for the crown.

Keithroy ‘De Voice’ Morson, who was the second runner up prize winner in the regional Leeward Islands Calypso Monarch Competition, was crowned king in this year’s ‘Groovy’ category.

He wowed the crowds with his song ‘Just Like Dat’.

Second and third place went to Alvin ‘Dardo’ Duberry with ‘Bad Company’ and Shaquille ‘Vybz It’ White with her song ‘Love For Soca’.

In the ‘Jumpy’ category, Kenville ‘Lyrikal Tool’ Winspere and Dyvaun ‘D’Vicious’ Sweeney took the top prize with their crowd pleaser ‘No Feelings’.

Second place went to Stephaun ‘Shella’ Harris and Jordesh ‘Big Gee’ George with ‘Stress Free’ and the third prize was awarded to Keithroy Morson again, this time under the name ‘De Bear’ with his song ‘A Peeping’.
