Government requests tenders for 40 new hospital beds

The Government of Montserrat is looking for businesses to submit tenders for the supply and delivery of 40 hospital beds.

The beds need to be delivered to the Ministry of Health and Social Services in two lots of 20 each. Bidders can apply for one or both lots.

There is just one week to go before the 28 February deadline, according to the government’s invitation to tender published online.

The beds must be 83.8 inches by 27.8 inches with a wheeled aluminium frame and a hard-plastic headboard and footboard.

They must also include an IV pole with at least two hooks, adjustable side safety rails, and include a wired or wireless remote.

The mattress needs to be fluid resistant, adjustable to every position, compatible with the bed and made of memory foam or latex free foam.

The 57,000 square foot, three-storey New National Hospital will be resilient to hurricanes and earthquakes. The government has scheduled the completion date for 2026.

It will house 25 beds in a blend of wards and individual rooms, dedicated acute mental health rooms, two operating theatre suites, and a full diagnostic suite.

Architecture firm Article 25 has designed the building and the UK’s Capital Investment Programme for Resilient Economic Growth and the Governor’s Office are funding it.

A scale model is available for the public to view.
