The government’s Programme Management Office has joined the corporate partnership programme of a UK project management company to secure expertise and guidance.
As a member of the Association for Project Management’s (APM) programme, the department will get a wide array of benefits, a 1 March press release said.
These include personalised support from a partnership development manager, free and discounted tickets to APM events, and digital resources.
Lindorna Lambert-Sweeney, financial secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Management, said the partnership will help to advance Montserrat’s development agenda.
“This collaboration will empower our project professionals with valuable resources, events, skills training, and networking opportunities essential for success,” she said.
It will also make Montserrat more attractive for aspiring project professionals, she added in the press release.
Steer conversation
The Programme Management Office has also secured a place on the APM’s corporate advisory group for 2024-2025.
As a member, it will be able to steer the conversation, contribute to the direction of the profession and attend in-person events.
Martin Parlett, head of the Programme Management Office, said the department is proud to deepen its longstanding relationship with the APM.
“These announcements underscore the critical importance of outreach and partnerships for Montserrat’s small project management community,” he said.
Sophie Lawrence, APM partnership development manager, said the company is thrilled to welcome the government into its corporate partnership programme and advisory group.
She praised the Programme Management Office for its “exceptional track record”, exemplified by winning the international ‘PMO of the Year Award’ in 2020.
The department’s “impressive contributions to the global project management community” show its dedication to driving excellence and innovation in project management, she added.
The annual fee to become a member of the APM’s corporate partnership programme is £1,990 for one to 249 employees and £6,995 for 250 or more.
The Programme Management Office was established to improve the delivery and effectiveness of project, programme, and portfolio management across the Government of Montserrat.
