Montserrat team to attend trade and investment forum in London

A Montserrat delegation is preparing to showcase the island’s investment potential at the UK-Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum in London.

The influential summit, hosted by DMA Invest, will connect Caribbean leaders with UK government representatives and major businesses to strengthen trade ties.

John Osborne Junior, Minister of Agriculture, Lands, Housing, Environment and Sports, is leading the delegation to the event from 5 to 7 November, a government press release said.

Montserrat will have a visible role as the minister joins a panel featuring representatives from Belize, Guyana, the Bahamas, and Trinidad and Tobago.

The discussion will focus on attracting UK investment, highlighting Montserrat’s opportunities across a range of sectors.

The delegation will engage in one-on-one meetings with selected UK businesses to explore partnerships in key sectors.

And roundtable discussions with potential investors will also cover maritime logistics, renewable energy, and ports development, and airports infrastructure.

To enhance their outreach, the team will present two new brochures aimed at UK investors: ‘An Invest in Montserrat Teaser’ and a ‘Renewable Energy’ brochure.

The delegation’s main goal is to identify and attract suitable investors and establish Montserrat as a premier investment destination for UK companies.

A follow-up roundtable event later this month will delve into sector-specific opportunities, with Montserrat set to host its own UK-Trade and Investment Forum early next year.

Accompanying the minister are key team members, including the Governor’s Office project lead Alba Smeriglio-Heimpold, policy director Deonne Peters, and Keiretta Farrell, head of Montserrat’s UK Office.

Montserrat’s Government Information Unit will provide updates and highlights from the event throughout the delegation’s visit.

The initiative is part of the UK-Montserrat Trade and Private Sector Development Project, funded by the UK Government’s Green and Inclusive Growth Centre of Expertise.
