Nicole Fagan has been appointed as the new product development officer in the Montserrat Tourism Authority.
In her new role, she will develop and promote authentic tourism products that highlight Montserrat’s landscapes, sites and attractions, and celebrate its traditions, artisanship and culinary heritage.
Fagen said she feels “very blessed and honoured” to be appointed, and aims to foster sustainable tourism that preserves the environment while celebrating Montserrat’s cultural identity.
“From our spectacular natural scenery to the authentic flavours of our local cuisine, I want to highlight what makes Montserrat unique,” she said in a press release from the authority.
“I hope to cultivate a deeper connection between our people and the natural habitat by promoting a more mindful and responsible approach to tourism.”
Fagan is a graduate of the University of Northampton and holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Development.
She has gained a wealth of experience through her work in both Montserrat and the United Kingdom, particularly in initiatives that champion youth, community, and sports development.
Her expertise in sustainable development and her deep commitment to cultural preservation are integral to her approach, which focuses on responsible tourism that benefits both local communities and visitors.
Having returned to Montserrat in 2017 after several years in the UK, she is driven by her desire to contribute meaningfully to her homeland.
Rosetta West Gerald, chief executive officer of the Montserrat Tourism Authority, said she is pleased to welcome Fagan to the team.
“Her innovative ideas and dedication to sustainable tourism practices align perfectly with our vision for Montserrat,” she said.
“We are confident that Nicole’s work will not only elevate Montserrat’s tourism offerings but also strengthen connections with our community.”
