The Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO) has launched a newly designed website featuring improved navigation, up-to-date volcanic activity information, educational resources, and live video.
The site serves as a central resource for anyone interested in the Soufrière Hills volcano and MVO’s critical monitoring efforts, an MVO press release explained.
Thiffanie Williams, MVO’s education and outreach coordinator, said: “We’re excited to introduce this platform to the public as part of our commitment to outreach and education.
“With this launch, we’re able to bring MVO’s work closer to the people of Montserrat and everyone interested in the fascinating science of volcanology.”
Among the features of the site are details about the MVO, its history, staff members with contact details, scientific advisory committee and job opportunities.
Users can learn about all the monitoring methods and access the past and present reports and scientific insights on volcanic activity at Soufrière Hills.
An in-depth chronology shows visually the timeline of volcanic activity in Montserrat, and people can read about the potential of geothermal energy.
The site also features details of projects, collaboration, academic publications and research, along with a live remote video and thermal camera view of the volcano.
Built for easy navigation, the online resource is accessible across all devices, allowing users to quickly find the information they need.
