The Neon Wear glow party is returning to Montserrat for the third time as part of this year’s St Patrick’s Festival celebrations.
With vibrant neon décor, modern lighting effects and a diverse mix of music, the organisers aim to captivate attendees while highlighting the island’s culture and festivities.
The event was created by Montserrat-born Ikesha Irish and Jamaica-born Kenrick Matthie of M2K Entertainment, both now based in the United Kingdom.
Matthie told Montserrat Focus that the idea originated from family members who had seen their work abroad and encouraged them to bring their unique style and expertise to Montserrat.
“They felt we could add a new dimension to the celebrations, particularly in terms of décor, event atmosphere, and overall planning,” he said.
“Our primary aim with Neon Wear is to raise awareness of Montserrat, its vibrant St Patrick’s season, its rich culture, and all the incredible experiences this beautiful island has to offer to people overseas.”
The debut Neon Wear event was held in 2023 at the Good Life Restaurant and Nightclub in Little Bay.
Immersive experience
Matthie explained that the name ‘Neon Wear’ was inspired by the vibrant and electrifying atmosphere of neon lights, which evoke excitement and energy.
“It encapsulates the essence of a dynamic gathering where people can express themselves through bold fashion choices while immersing themselves in a lively and unforgettable ambiance,” he said.
Matthie said that what truly sets the party apart is the organisers’ unwavering commitment to innovation and creating a visually stunning, electrifying atmosphere.
“We don’t just put on a party; we craft a unique, immersive experience unlike anything else on the island,” he said
“We’re constantly thinking outside the box, bringing fresh ideas and incorporating elements we’ve experienced at events around the world.”
These include eye-catching flyers that generate buzz to the unique décor and cutting-edge lighting effects, including black lights and powerful skylights that transform the venue into a vibrant, otherworldly space.
“We’re dedicated to consistently exceeding expectations and creating unforgettable memories for our attendees. We’re not just another event; we’re a sensory explosion.” Matthie said.
The experience
The Neon Wear party features a diverse range of musical styles with DJs playing reggae and dancehall, soca, R&B, hip-hop, and even pop.
“We’re all about creating a unique and energetic vibe that sets our event apart during the festival season,” Matthie said.
Attendees are highly encouraged to wear neon colours and LED accessories.
“We believe we are one of the only, if not the only, event in Montserrat to offer such exclusive lighting effects in combination with our décor,” Matthie added.
“We use black lights, various effects such as our skylights to illuminate the sky and the event’s exterior, beautiful photo backdrops, and exclusive entertainers to create a truly immersive and unforgettable experience.
“For 2025, we’ve even added to our lighting setup, and we’re excited to surprise our attendees once again!”
This year’s party is scheduled for 10 March
at the Good Life Restaurant and Nightclub in Little Bay.
