A press release on 25 April said the new head’s appointment, which will see her implement government policies for its UK and Europe interests, began on 1 April.
Farrell holds a BA in Politics and International Studies from the University of Warwick in the UK, and a double MA in International Development from Warwick and American University.
“Her professional journey demonstrates significant contributions in both the public and non-profit sectors,” the government release said.
Expertise in strategy
In 2016 and 2017, Farrell served in various capacities within the Government of Montserrat.
These included secondments to the Office of the Deputy Governor, Office of the Premier, Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing and Environment, and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Management.
Her expertise in strategy, change management and innovation has been instrumental in driving public and non-profit transformation over the past five years, the release added.
In a post on Instagram, Farrell said: “In this role, I’ll have the honour of serving and representing Montserrat’s interests in the United Kingdom, fostering collaboration and strengthening ties between our vibrant communities.”
The Montserrat Government UK Office opened in October 1998.
The head’s aim is to provide information to the Government of Montserrat, and liaise with the UK government to support the Montserrat community in the UK.
They must also promote trade and tourism and provide a secretariat service to visiting Government of Montserrat ministers and officials.
