Montserrat’s newly elected government ministers and parliamentary secretary toured key public sector offices this week, marking the start of their official engagements.
On Monday, 28 October, Veronica Dorsette-Hector, John Osborne, Ingrid Buffonge and Dwayne Hixon were warmly welcomed at each stop.
Premier Reuben Meade could not attend due to a prior commitment, a Facebook post from the government said on 29 October.
However, Jenzil Skerritt, press secretary for the Office of the Premier, stepped in to direct the visits to the government ministries and departments.
The tour included calls to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Management; the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing, the Environment and Sports; the Ministry of Infrastructure, Labour, Transportation, Energy and Ecclesiastical Affairs; the Ministry of Health and Social Services; and the Ministry of Education.
The team also visited the Office of the Premier, Cabinet Secretariat, Attorney General’s Chambers, Social Security, Office of the Deputy Governor; Legislature, Office of the Auditor General, the Police and Fire Departments.
Ministers voiced their eagerness to collaborate with department teams to drive Montserrat’s socio-economic development and tackle the island’s priorities, the post said.
Five members of the United Alliance party won seats in the Montserrat Legislative Assembly following Montserrat’s general election on the 24 October.
