New York hospital donates recliners to Montserrat health service

The management and staff at the Mount Sinai Morningside hospital in New York have donated high quality recliner chairs to Montserrat’s health service.

Designed to enhance patient comfort, they are a valuable addition to Montserrat’s healthcare infrastructure, a press release from Ministry of Health and Social Services said.

“Their placement in healthcare facilities across the island aims to improve the overall experience for patients and caregivers alike,” it added on 11 November.

“Comfortable seating can make a significant difference in patient care, especially during long hours of treatment and recovery and this donation will positively impact many lives.”

The donation was made possible with the assistance of members of Montserrat’s diaspora including Iris Lake, a nurse at Mount Sinai Morningside hospital and the A-Team who financed the shipment.

Permanent Secretary of Health, Camille Thomas-Gerald received the donation and expressed her gratitude.

She thanked Lake and the A-Team for their assistance in ensuring the recliners reached Montserrat.

“This partnership embodies the strength of community, whether at home or abroad and highlights the collective effort required to improve healthcare services for all Montserratians,” she said.
