Among the reasons the awardees were recognised included several sea rescue operations where all passengers and boats were recovered safely.

Also among the achievements were the investigation of various safeguarding matters and other crimes which have resulted in successful prosecutions.

Enriles, who is a seconded officer from the Royal Gibraltar Police, said: “It is important that we recognise the incredible work and dedication of these officers and staff.

“We are lucky to have individuals who are going above and beyond to keep people safe, often giving their own time and placing their lives at risk in service to others.

“Incidents, such as the rescue of the 17 migrants, placed an enormous demand on our service and the successful resolution of these unfortunate circumstances serve as a testament of their commitment and resolve. Well done to them all.”
