Public warned to ignore fake ads offering free gov’t courses

A false advertisement has been posted online stating that the government is offering free courses starting in October with a link to a third party website.

The Learning and Development Division in the Human Resources Management Unit warned in a Facebook post that members of the public should not click on the link.

“This advertisement is completely false and persons are advised not to register or sign-up for any courses on Montserrat through this platform,” it said on 26 September .

Any advertisement promoting government training programmes on social media go through official social media platforms, such as the Government Information Unit and Office of the Deputy Governor.

“Any official government related training programme would be accessible on the Government of Montserrat website and not on any external third party platform,” the post added.
