Residents are invited to illuminate their homes, communities and businesses with festive lights for the 2024 Christmas Lighting Competition.
Montserrat Tourism Authority and Montserrat Arts Council are collaborating once again on this year’s island-wide contest.
“This cherished event invites the community to celebrate the season with dazzling light displays, filling the island with festive joy and creativity,” the tourism authority said in a Facebook post on 8 November.
“Open to residents and businesses, the competition welcomes participants across four categories designed to showcase Montserrat’s vibrant holiday spirit.”
The categories are residential home display, village or community display, business display and ‘Just WOW’ or the most creative display theme.
Those interested in taking part can register and collect competition details before 16 December at the Montserrat Tourism Authority building in Brades or Montserrat Arts Council building in Little Bay.
Further information is available from the authority at 491-4702/03 or info@montserrattourism.ms, and at the council at 491-8555/6 or info@artscouncil.ms
The government announced last week that is waiving customs duty and consumption tax for most Christmas decorations imported into Montserrat between 1 November and 24 December this year.
This includes LED electrical Christmas lights, low energy laser decorative spotlights, solar powered Christmas lights, Christmas trees and Christmas decorations.
