Six to be recognised at National Honours and Awards Ceremony

Six Montserratians will be honoured for their selfless contribution and commitment to the development and advancement of Montserrat next month.

Premier Joseph E Farrell will present each with accolades at the 8th National Honours and Awards Ceremony at the Montserrat Cultural Centre on Tuesday, March 12, at 6pm.

Of those, two will receive the Order of Excellence for their ‘extraordinary and unwavering commitment, devoted and distinguished contributions to the development of Montserrat’.

Sarita V Francis will collect the honour for her service in the field of education, environmental conservation and public service.

Dr Yvonne Weekes will also collect the honour in the field of education, culture and the arts, a government press release on 22 January said.

A second award, the Order of Distinction will go to Bruce Farara for his ‘distinguished and outstanding contributions’ in the areas of commerce and entrepreneurship.

In addition, the premier will present three people with the Order of Merit for meritorious contributions to Montserrat.

Reginald Blake in the field of fisheries, Charles Emmanuel White in the area of private sanitation and refuse collection, and Kelvin Duberry in the field of sports, culture, arts and education.

According to the press release, Premier Joseph E Farrell heartily congratulated all of the awardees.
