The government has issued an invitation to tender for much-needed renovation works at Brades Fire Station in Montserrat.
Plans featured in the document include the replacement of the roof and east wall, as well as the treatment of the structural frame with rust-proof paint.
Interested parties do not have long to apply, however, as the request was published on 13 November and the deadline for applications is just two weeks later on 27 November.
The conditions at Brades Fire Station have long been an issue of concern, with one resident posting videos of serious leaks from the roof on his Facebook page during a recent rainfall.
The full works due to take place, once a bidder has been selected, includes removal of all Galvalume roof sheets and replacement with new.
It also includes replacement of all Galvalume sheets on the east façade with a new reinforced concrete eight-inch block wall, and the treatment of all existing structural frames with rust-proof paint.
The renovation is projected to take nine weeks, but a starting date has not yet been set.
The site, which is an active fire station with ongoing daily functions, may not be hindered or obstructed at any time during the execution of the works, the tender invite says.
