A senior United Nations representative is visiting Montserrat this week to reaffirm the organisation’s support for the island.
The government is hosting Simon Springett, the United Nations resident coordinator for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, during his three-day visit from 9 to 11 February.
According to a Facebook post from the Office of the Premier, Springett presented his credentials to premier Reuben Meade on Monday, 10 February.
He will go on to meet and engage with other senior government officials during the remainder of his stay.
Springett leads the UN’s sub-regional team in ten countries and territories, working to deliver on the ‘2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.’
His office plays a key role in supporting joint programming and coordinating development activities across the UN.
