Tourists leaving Montserrat at both the air and sea ports this March will be asked to fill in a survey on their personal experiences, preferences and expectations.
In a press release on 9 February, Montserrat Tourism Division said it will use the data collected to shape future tourism strategies.
Tourism director Rosetta West Gerald stressed that understanding visitor preferences and behaviours is essential for the sustainable development of Montserrat’s tourism industry.
The exit surveys will provide “invaluable insights that will inform strategic decision-making” and help create memorable experiences for all visitors, she added.
The Montserrat Tourism Division and the Office of the Premier will be administering the surveys in collaboration with the Statistics Department within the Ministry of Finance.
Chief statistician Siobhan Tuitt said visitor surveys are crucial for statistical offices to gauge tourism’s economic impact, and aid in planning and policymaking for sustainable growth.
