Basketball association returns president and elects new executive

Montserrat Amateur Basketball Association has re-elected Gilmore ‘Papchow’ Williams to lead as president for the next four years.

In a Facebook post on 24 June, the group announced that it held its general elections for the term 2024-28 on 20 January.

During that meeting, Williams was returned as president and a new executive team was chosen which “blends the experience of the seasoned members with the fresh perspectives of the younger generation”.

The members are vice president Julius Fergus, secretary Astrid Wade, treasurer Jamaul Wade, public relations Jayesh Sadhwani, players rep Kriston Murrain, and floor member Maldrick Weekes.

Through these elections the association has “renewed its commitment and mandate to the development of basketball on Montserrat”, the statement said.
