UK’s high commissioner to eastern Caribbean tours Montserrat

Scott Furssedonn-Wood, UK’s high commissioner to Barbados and the eastern Caribbean, visited Montserrat this week for a tour of what he dubbed a “wonderful island”.

During his one-day visit on Tuesday, 12 March, he joined Deputy Premier Samuel Joseph to review progress on the Little Bay port.

He discussed with Premier Joseph E Farrell the United Kingdom-Caribbean multi-sector trade and investment mission taking place in Antigua from 11-14 March.

And he visited the Royal Montserrat Police Service.

In a Facebook post on the Governor’s Office page, Furssedonn-Wood said it had been a really positive visit.

“I am delighted to see progress at the port project funded by UK Caribbean Infrastructure Fund and to have an opportunity to learn more about this wonderful island,” he said.

Governor Sarah Tucker accompanied the high commissioner during the afternoon when he visited Dr Graham Ryan at the Montserrat Volcano Observatory.

She said it was a pleasure to welcome the him “as we continue to seek opportunities to support and develop Montserrat, and to learn from other islands, both in the Caribbean and further afield”.
